Dr Mark Daniel Atkinson is an Australian trained and registered Specialist Oral Surgeon.


Mark was born and raised in Brisbane and graduated from the University of Queensland dental school. He received a scholarship with the Royal Australian Air Force during his studies. Upon graduation, he was posted to Sydney and served in the permanent RAAF as a Flight Lieutenant before transitioning to the Reserves.


Mark then went on to complete further post-graduate studies and his specialist training achieving both the Graduate Diploma in Surgical Dentistry and the Clinical Doctorate in Oral Surgery through the University of Sydney in association with NSW Health. He has a particular interest in research including his completed thesis investigating medical emergencies in the dental setting. He has also been awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh after successfully passing both the college's primary and final examinations.


Mark has a passion for education and holds an honorary lecturer position with the University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine and Health. He has been awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh due to his commitment to education. 


Along with his private practice work, Mark holds the public hospital appointment of Staff Specialist with NSW Health operating across Sydney Local Health District.

Mark has a love for travel, hiking, diving and photography. He has worked abroad with NGOs in South Africa, Cambodia, Guatemala and Honduras.
